The gun, a .357-caliber Smith & Wesson pistol, was found by an eagle-eyed officer who spotted it on a roof outside of a window of the room he was searching during the raid about 8 p.m., Friday, Dec. 21, said Stamford Police Capt. Richard Conklin.
Warrants for the search were provided after officers with the squad received intel that Bridgeport resident, Frank Massey, 24, was helping funnel guns to Stamford by transporting them to a Stamford home were they were then stored, Conklin said.
After entering the home, officers found a sock containing six .357-caliber bullets. They also uncovered five bags of marijuana weighing about 15 grams in the bedroom of a 16-year-old resident, Conklin said.
When one of the officer's looked out the window of one of the bedrooms he spotted the .357-caliber Smith & Wesson pistol that had been thrown onto the roof, and was able to climb out and grab it, Conklin said. Police believe Massey threw the weapon out the window when they arrived.
Massey, who was in the home at the time of the search, signed a statement saying he owned the weapon, police said.
Conklin said Massey has an order of protection by a Superior Court judge that prohibits him from possessing any guns or ammunition.
He was charged with criminal possession of a revolver, interfering with police and violating a judge’s protective order. He is being held on a $100,000 court appearance bond.
The juvenile, who has a lengthy criminal record, Conklin said, was charged with possession of a gun without a permit and possession of marijuana with intent to sell. He is being held at the Juvenile Detention Center.
